January Executive Board Meeting

 Collinsville, IL                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     January 13, 2011

The regular monthly meeting of the MCFA Executive Board was called to order by President Randy Barnett at 7:00 pm and opened with a moment of silence for William (Bill) Helvie from Rosewood Heights. Vice-President Jerry Pruitt then read the Fireman's Prayer. All officers were present.

Asst Secretary/Treasurer Tim Hasamear held roll call of departments with 18 firefighters present representing 13 departments.

Asst Secretary/Treasurer Hasamear read last months Executive Board Meeting Minutes. A motion by Earl Thiems of New Douglas and second by Ken Brinker of Marine to approve as read. Motion Carried.

REPORTS OF COMMITTEES:

Pension: Secretary Allsman gave the Pension Report.

Beginning Month Balance: $2,938,824.24                                

Monthly Payout: $33,158                                            

Ending Month Balance: $2,935,943.65            

Net Change for Month: -$2,880.59                 

Number of Firefighters Drawing: 308

Transfer to U.S. Bank for Month: $13,000

Year to Date Transfers to US Bank: $13,000

Training: Ken Brinker stated that there was an e-mail sent out to all chief’s with upcoming classes.  If anyone has any questions about the classes they can get a hold of him.

Scholarship: Scholarships are available. You can pick them up at the hall or get them from Secretary Allsman. A reminder from Secretary Allsman, to be eligible you must be natural, adopted, step-children, legal wards who’s parents are active members or members who have properly served 20 years of active service with it’s respective department within the boundaries of Madison County, or Junior Firefighters. They must be postmarked by March 15th.

Bingo
: Asst. Secretary/Treasurer Hasamear read the bingo report for the month.

Legislative: Terry Ford stated that they are keeping a close eye on some bills that are in legislation for the fire service.

Insurance: Building manager Bill Ellis stated that he is working with insurance company on the amounts that we still owe. They almost have everything worked out after going back over the workers comp payroll. 

Building Manager: Bill stated that we received a bill from the PHD Company for the rental fees going back to late September early October. The fees have not been paid and they are saying we owe them $18,000. They have gone back through the bills and have found some that have already been paid. Vice-President Pruitt asked why the bills haven’t been paid and Bill stated that they would get a fax from them for the bill. He stated that either they haven’t been getting the fax or someone has taken the faxes off the fax machine. He stated that Kathy called them to ask if they would mail the invoice instead of faxing it. They want their money that they are owed and we don’t have it all at this time. Bill stated that he thought we should send $9000 now and the rest later.

Unfinished Business: Dave Hanbaum made a motion to drop state officers pay going to IFA conference and to reduce the Redbook payment from $1000 to $500. The motion was second by Jerry Pruitt. Motion Carried.

Remarks for the Good of Association: Secretary Allsman stated that there was a Madison County Firemen’s Association group page on facebook. Anyone wanting to be added to it could search for Ed Allsman on facebook and send friend request and he would add them to the group. He also stated that he is working on a web page for the County. It is still under construction and he would let everyone know when it would be up and running.

Announcements: Mitchell Fire Department will host the January County Meeting at the Elks in Granite City.

With no further business forthcoming announcements were made and the meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm on a motion by Tom Brent of Venice and second by Earl Thiems of New Douglas. Motion Carried.
